Isle Laws

LAWS CAVEAT:
All residents and visitors are expected to have a basic knowledge of Gor. Newbies are welcome but are asked to refrain from joining in roleplay unless they have some pre-existing knowledge of Gorean culture. All residents and visitors are encouraged to stay as accurate to life in the novels as possible.
No excuse for not adhering to these laws will be accepted. By setting foot onto the stone of the docks you agree to be bound by all laws set forth in this document, regardless of whether or not you have read them in their entirety.

Welcome ashore!

The Lost Isle is a secluded island in far Western Thassa, outside the view of most of Gor.  The closest neighbor of the isle is the island of Tyros.  The inhabitants of the isle are from all across Gor, and thus their practices are a wonderful mix to reflect this diversity.

The isle is home to a variety of Goreans from differing backgrounds.  The village itself was founded by wayward pirates looking for a new home and an end to their outlaw ways.  Over time, others seeking a new start, or washed ashore by shipwreck have come to call this isle home where all past transgressions are ignored.

The citizens of the isle have agreed to live in peace, and no combat or hostile actions will be recognized. We choose to live a life focused on day to day roleplay, not the metered combat so widespread in SL Gor.  The inhabitants of the village also make an effort to look after one another, so there is no need for anyone to beg or steal.  The village tries to remain a “family,” and as yet there have been none that have felt the need to go rogue or run off into the wilderness.

⃠ The following laws must be followed by all residents, visitors and guests.  The Lost Isle is the Village of Northtree, far western Thassa and the wilderness surrounding the docks and village. ⃠

I. GENERAL RULES FOR ALL RESIDENTS AND VISITORS

1.  First and foremost, all individuals entering the Lost Isle are expected to behave as Goreans, treating all others, Free and slave alike, with respect and courtesy.

2.  All visitors must be in adult, human form.  While we respect the interest of others to play as furries, vampires, nekos, etc. we kindly ask that you not appear in any of these forms within the Lost Isle as they did not exist on Gor.  Also, since we are an adult roleplay sim, and to avoid any confusion or possible persecution, no child avatars are allowed.

3. The only recognized roles for women on the Lost Isle are Free and slave.  Panthers, taluna, female outlaws, mercenaries, pirates etc. are not recognized and will not be accepted as part of our community or roleplay.

4. Free Women will adhere to dress code suitable for their station, with modesty being maintained by all.  The minimal standard of dress for Free Women is that of one from the peasant’s caste. Veils are optional due to our geographic mix.  Any conduct unbecoming a Free Woman of Gor will be brought before the Village Captain or his dignitaries to decide her fate.

5. Weapons may be worn within the village, but drawing any weapon is highly discouraged.  All conflicts should be resolved at the lowest level possible, through roleplay.  Any conflict that cannot be resolved by the initiating parties may be brought before the Village Captain or his dignitaries.

6. Citizens, Free or slave, may have only one Gorean character. If you have a Gorean alt, decide which one you will use and stick to it!

7. Market renters are subject to the additional rules set forth by the market manager, and may or may not be asked to closely adhere to the village laws within the sky market area.

8. Cottage rental tenants are subject to the additional rules set forth by the rental manager, and must adhere to the village laws while outside their private residences.

9. All rental cottages and the island in the southeast corner of the Olonor sim are private residences.  Entering these areas is by invitation only, and any additional rules may be added by their owners.

10. Any violation of our rules subject the offender to temporary imprisonment by any Lost Isle guard.  The offender will have a hearing before the Village Captain, or his dignitaries, within two days of the incident, where a decision about the incident shall be reached. If a hearing is unable to be held within two days of the incident due to unavailability of the Village Captain or his dignitaries, the charges will be dropped.

11. Any events taking place in rental cottages or inn rooms is considered OOC unless an agreement has been reached prior to roleplay within, by all parties, that the events will be considered IC.

12. Any resident or visitor, Free or slave, is asked to remove themself from plain sight before going AFK, and all OOC chat should be kept within IMs if possible.

13. Additional laws may be set forth at any time, but one that will always remain is: be Gorean.  Free and slaves are expected to know their role and their limits.  Free Men are expected to take part in the defense of their village.  Free Women are expected to be modest and it is hoped they will take an interest in their community.  Slaves will always be held to their two duties: exquisite beauty and absolute obedience.

II. OWNERS AND THEIR SLAVES

1. Owners are fully responsible for the actions and behavior of their property within the boundaries of the Lost Isle. That said, this does not excuse property from behaving in a manner unbefitting a slave of Gor.

2. Runaway slaves will only be considered such if their Owner reports them as runaway.

3. A slave will be considered abandoned if they have no contact from their Owner for 4 weeks, provided they can prove attempts have been made to contact their Owner. Abandoned slaves will become village property.

4. No one shall interfere in the discipline of a collared slave by their rightful Owner, either by action or speech. If a Free, who is a non-citizen, feels the disciplining of a village slave is incorrect, it should be taken to the village slaver.

III. GENERAL SLAVE RULES

1. Unowned slaves are subject to a force collar by the first Free person of the village that sees them, the slave going to the village. Force collared slaves must remain in the slavers and kennel area until a check for a current owner has been performed and an assesment of their Gorean knowledge level. If no owner is found, and the slave posseses a grasp of Gorean basics, they will be released to village service under a trial period of two weeks. If at the end of this time the slave is found undesirable based on attitude and/or actions, their village collar will be revoked and the slave asked to leave the village.

2. All slaves serving within a tavern, The Wet Kajira or village tavern, will serve naked. If a slave enters the tavern in a camisk, they will proceed to the kitchen to disrobe before moving to serve any Free. The only tavern slaves permitted to wear clothing are dancers, who will wear minimalist silks. Any unrestricted slave serving in a tavern will be expected to serve in the furs, so long as the Free has purchased at least one bowl of paga.

3. Coin sluts within the Lost Isle are permitted, but only with permission from the Village Captain or his dignitaries.

4. All slaves within the Lost Isle will be nude or wear camisks when outside private residences. Privately owned slaves may wear simple silks, but will be expected to wear camisks while performing village chores.

5. Village slaves may be furred (used sexually) by any Gorean within the docks or village proper. Exceptions to this are white silk girls, restricted slaves, or any slave made exempt from this by the Village Captain. (With this said, an individual must be dressed as a Gorean and appear to have at least some knowledge of Gorean culture and behavior before such acts are granted.) Sexually restricted slaves, village or private, must wear an iron belt, but will still be expected to serve food and drink and perform chores within the village.

6. Village slaves will not wear a paper carrier. Slaves on Gor were not permitted to carry their ownership papers. Private slaves will not wear a paper carrier unless directed to do so by their owner.
